OK, so today’s post isn’t about a Theme Park but something different and something which is a major passion of mine for a long time now, Formula 1!
I decided that I would take a visit to Silverstone not just for Qualifying but also for the Race and not only that I would do it in style, using one of the Hospitality offerings available ‘Trackside’ which is located within the inner track and is one of the cheaper hospitality options available at Silverstone (but still a bit expensive).
Both day’s started with an early start as from my home city, I went by coach, a special one which Megabus offer from many city’s to Silverstone and I only had 1 other pick-up point on-route to Silverstone and if you don’t include the time waiting in traffic wasn’t actually a long bus journey.
When I got to Silverstone, I then went into Gate 3 which was next to the Megabus/Stagecoach drop-off / pick-up area and the queue was actually moving rather quickly considering they check your bags and then scan your tickets.
After this, I then took a short walk over to the entrance for Inner Track via Copse Tunnel.
On the Saturday I had to go through a second bag check and a further ticket scan prior to entering Copse Tunnel / Inner Track, but on the Sunday they removed the 2nd bag check and just had a ticket scan (to ensure those going into the Inner Track area should be going in there.
After this, it was a very quick walk into the Trackside Hospitality area, where I was given a wristband, lanyard and card which then acted as my access into the Inner Track if I decided to leave to have a look around elsewhere (and also spend money at the stalls for merch!)
As part of the offering, they do provide Breakfast prior to 11am, sadly I got there too late on Saturday to enjoy it but on Sunday I was able to get in just in time to have a lovely roll and sausage. (Yes, washed down with a pint, after all it was after 11am!)
The area, provided a great view of Copse and as it turned out a perfect place to watch Perez spin out during qualifying!
There was also a bar with a good selection available for you thorough the day (after 11am) and I sure made the most of the beer available for both days!
It wasn’t all about the drink, there was also plenty of different food on offer (for free!) and I might have had more than one from the same stand (after all, something to wash down the beer with but also, I had to get my money worth!)
With being in the Inner Track area, there was also a good opportunity to view some of the historic cars as well that were on display, and plenty of the trucks were on site aswell!
The area provided a great viewing for the Red Arrow’s aswell during their pre-race display.
All of the staff were great, friendly and also very much enjoying the Formula 1 aswell.
The atmosphere was just simply amazing, something that you just can’t get by watching it on TV. There was if you watched the race plenty of race action and also tense moments aswell.
The cheers that happened for Lewis Hamilton when he won the race were just amazing, everyone was cheering for him even me, so it didn’t matter what team you supported, just to have a British driver win the race was amazing.
Would I do it again? YES! I really enjoyed the hospitality section, OK it was expensive but with the amount of food, drink and not only that the views you get and the service you also get from the staff were just simply amazing!
Now to plan for 2025, I will also see if I will go back tot he same hospitality area or check a different one out next year, I will just have to start saving up first then I shall make up my mind what I will want to do!
