With plenty going on around the UK Merlin Parks at the moment and as there seem to have recently also been more announcements here is a quick re-cap of what projects are currently going on!
Of course, we can also agree that Merlin still have a lot of work to do if they also wish to compete with a possible Universal UK should it get the go-ahead. We also believe that there are also other plans in the works at the moment for Thorpe Park which haven’t yet been announced or had any planning applications submitted for.
Alton Towers
- The Blade Removal
- Project Ocean (Toxicator) – New Top Spin ride coming to Forbidden Valley
- Project Horizon (On Hold) – New indoor ride due to come near the old Alton Towers Dungeons building
- Project Sunshine – New junior coaster replacing the Postman Pat Ride
Thorpe Park
- Slammer Removal
- Project Pivot – New entertainment area / stage to be built on part of Amity Beach
Legoland Windsor
Chessington World of Adventures
- Project Refresh & Renew – Indoor and Part outdoor rollercoaster, area replacing Wild Asia and expected to be Minecraft-themed
- Project Play – Replacement of Scorpion Express and retheme of Mexicana for a ‘junior’ area similar to CBebbies Land at Alton Towers
- Project Bruce – Waterpark for CWOA, this has been on-going for a while and awaiting planning approval however, Chessington have confirmed that they are still committed to seeing the project go ahead.
